What does food mean to you?

Food has come to define everything that I am, with the kitchen becoming my fort.  My nirvana-moment is when someone closes their eyes to savor the flavors of a dish put together by me.

How did you learn to cook? Was cooking always a part of your life?

Flavor was always a part of my life, with my parents being great cooks and great connoisseurs as well as discoverers of hidden gem of restaurants (India is known for little-known-but-awesome eateries, tucked away in busy city streets).  My own cooking bug bit me when I moved to Poland and dove deep into the pantry.

What do you like the most about hosting?

I also only realized later in life that I must have been born for hosting.  I love to host, I love to make people comfortable, I love to delight and happify people.  I hope my couchsurfing references speak enough about this love for hosting.  I think good hosting gives me a feeling of having contributed in someway, somewhere… like the butterfly effect.

What is the most unforgettable meal you have ever had?

I was a fresh university student, in a new, big, scary city. I had not had a decent meal in at least a month and a half, surviving off eggs, milk and street food.  A fellow student happened to inform me that the university dormitory messes are open not only to students living there but, in fact, anyone at all. That afternoon, I was the first person to enter the mess, and i was surrounded by large serving trays of FOOD.  I think I've never ever had such a hearty meal as that day.

What is one ingredient you always have in your house?

There isn’t one. Fresh Ginger, Red Chili Powder, Coriander Powder, Cumin Powder, Turmeric Powder… the list goes on.

What is your family's favorite thing you cook?

Dal a.k.a. Lentils a.k.a. Soczewica.

What is something interesting about your country's food culture?

"Si, si.." is a sound that people make after eating the food... Apparently eating Indian food helps you to speak Spanish!

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would you choose?

If you could invite 3 people in the universe to one of your meals, who would you choose?

My family, my girlfriend… ok that’s more than 3, but i can’t help it!

Funniest cooking story?

When I was making a fruit smoothy and put salt instead of sugar.  And we went to a picnic near the river and all my friends were cursing me profusely.

Your table is full of travelers, what 3 things do you suggest they do in Warsaw?

1. Hang out with me and my friends over a drink.

2. Visit the old part of the city.

3. Visit the Copernicus center.

What is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?

What is your cooking style like? Do you listen to music, plan ahead, make a mess, etc…

Planned, Multi-tasking, Cleaning-on-the-go and a glass of wine- or two!

What do you do other than cook for Eataway?

Right now I'm on a career break, repassioning my life.
